Kitchen

The Kitchen is coming right along. We are getting really close. The Carpenters are there today hanging the cabinet doors and drawers. I'll post more pics once they are done, but this is how it looks now.

Carlisle has really pulled out all the stops. She has no fear f the water and has even started to swim with her head down (under water). I have a short video of this I will post later. For now, a picture will have to suffice.

I am in the process of uploading all my digital photographs to Flickr so that they will be archived and stored in case of a hard drive failure or fire or something of that nature. I back them up periodically to a local network hard drive, but if my house is flooded or burned, my backup device will be destroyed as well. I thought that for the low price of $25 / year with unlimited storage it was worth archiving them to Flickr. During the process of sorting and uploading I have run across some pretty funny pictures. This one has to be the best so far.

When we were at Caribe Resort in Orange Beach last weekend Susan told Carlisle that she (Carlisle) had been down the water slide there before when she was in Mommy's tummy. I dug up all the pictures from 2003 when we were last at Caribe with Jeremy and Audrey. As you can see from the picture, Susan is going down a water slide with Carlisle in her tummy, but it is an older slide than the one we slid last weekend.

Before and After

Here is the outside of the house "before and after". We are still working on getting the lanterns hung beside the front door, but things are mostly finished.




I was trying to use before and after shots from the same angle. Here are a few more from different spots.




Now here are some of the living room. The before shot is from when we were looking at the house, so the stuff in the room is the previous owner's (had to add that disclaimer). And yes, the room was really that much darker. You can't tell in the picture, but the wall color was the most light absorbing gray/blue, and the trim and ceiling was this gray/green that was equally light absorbing and just generally terrible. The whole house was painted to mimic a cave, I think. We are slowly brightening it up. This room isn't really finished yet, still lacking window treatments, hanging pictures, doing something about that large brass chandelier... But it is making definite progress. You can see the dining room in the back of the picture - with stuff piled everywhere and covered in plastic. That's pretty much what the rest of the house looks like.




So those are my long overdue pictures. There's not a whole lot more going on in our lives other than remodeling - so I don't have much else to say today. Oh, except explaining the car pictures maybe. I'm sure most of you figured out what I meant, but I got a new car this week! I had my gold wagon for almost 5 years, but it was time for a little upgrade. I stuck with VW because my wagon was a great car, and got the VW Touareg this time around. It is so nice, I love it, but I feel a little self-indulgent. Oh well, guess I'll get over it.
