The Fair

Today is Rainey's actual birthday, and in celebration we went to "The Fair." The Fair is a rather large traveling carnival with rides that go around and around and make me sick to watch and endless food booths that should give you a heart attack just walking by them. We actually saw signs for fried brownies and fried oreos.

We weren't actually planning on taking the girls, we figured that taking them to Disney in two weeks would suffice. Pop Pop and Dee Dee decided they wanted to take us all, so we went. The girls had a lot of fun, and the adults had fun watching them and eating a variety of fried delicacies. The entire family finished off lunch with some cotton candy. A pretty good day.

Here is a video of Charles and Carlisle, Pop Pop (Charles' dad) and Rainey riding the big slide. The girls absolutely loved this slide. Rainey really wanted to do it by herself.

Oh, and Mom, yes that is my old dress that Rainey is wearing. The little birthday diva had to try on about four dresses and three pairs of shoes before she settled on something that suited her.

My sweet girl is three today! I can't believe that I really don't have any babies anymore. I really don't even have any toddlers anymore. At 3 and 4 (almost 5) they are really "pre-schoolers", I think.

We had Rainey's birthday party at at the Ag Museum yesterday. Rainey seemed to have a lot of fun. She did not like the pony ride at all. She climbed right up on the pony but when it started to move she freaked out, and that was the end of that. Most of the other kids enjoyed the ponies though. They also took a train ride and rode the carousel. The carousel has definitely seen it's better days, but the kids don't know the difference. Just watching it go around give me motion sickness, but the kids loved it.

I'm not THAT old

I've had several people recently request more funny stories about the things Carlisle says, so here you go.

After I picked Carlisle up from school today she started singing, "Go Tell it on the Mountain." We were in the car and she was getting progressively louder until she was pretty much shouting it, and I had to shush her. Then she told me that she had to sing it REALLY loud because she was shouting it from the top of the mountain, "and back when Jesus was born they didn't have cell phones and email."

So I told her that we didn't have cell phones and email when I was born either. To which she replies, "Oh my gosh, you were born at the same time as Jesus."

Field Trip

Rainey's class went on a field trip to the petting zoo today. She had an absolute blast feeding carrots to all the animals. (Don't worry Jessica, we made frequent and plenty use of the hand sanitizer). And yes, that is Rainey strangling, I mean holding, a baby duck in the last picture. I'm sure the duck enjoyed it as much as Rainey did.

I don't have much else to say tonight. I really need to get to bed. Tomorrow is busy - a work day, ANOTHER jumping birthday party for Carlisle, have to make cupcakes to take to Rainey's class on Friday, and get ready for Rainey's birthday party which is Friday afternoon.

These are some random pictures from last month.

For some reason I love this picture of Rainey. I think it just sums her up perfectly. Lounging on the couch wearing panties, a too small polo, pink socks, silver glitter ballet shoes, a yellow smiley face sticker, and playing nintendo.


Let's see, and here we have Rainey again. This is the weekend I was painting our bedroom for the second time. That's a whole different story, but apparently Rainey got tired and decided to drag her rocking chair cushion into the kitchen and take a little nap. And yes, that is a newborn soothie paci. And yes, she is turning three this weekend. But she absolutely loves it, and it breaks my heart (and eardrums) every time I try to take it away permanently.

Wow!!

Seriously, WOW!!! Look at these GORGEOUS flowers that Matt and Meredith did for the Grove this weekend. I mean are they fabulous or what??? I've already booked the duo for our girls' weddings. Just kidding, our girls will never be allowed to date, so obviously there won't be any weddings.




So we were in Oxford for the game this weekend. We had fun, some had a little more fun than others (Charles, for instance). I won't go into details on this family oriented blog, but he would like to issue a blanket apology to anyone he tried to dance with, tackle, or generally talk to after about noon on Saturday.

Friday night we cooked out at Lain and Tatum's with college friends. Here is a picture of Mary Morgan (my chi-o house roommate for 2 years), her baby Jack, Rainey, Carlisle, and I'm holding Lain's baby, Georgia.



And here are a couple more pictures from the Grove. Carlisle is OBSESSED with baby Jack. She's pretty much obsessed with any baby, but having this one around all weekend just about put her over the edge. Saturday night after we dropped baby Jack off for the night, she broke down into tears about how she is so worried God won't give her a baby. Seriously, she's 4, and very concerned about whether or not she will have kids one day. I'm pretty sure I wasn't like that as a child. I wasn't even sure I wanted kids until I was about 24. Okay, okay, let's be honest, some days I'm still not sure I want kids....(just kidding, kind of.)

Trip!!!

The Copeland Crew is hitting the road and headed to Disney World. We leave in about three weeks and we are so so excited!!!

I know some of my blog readers have taken their kids that are about the same ages as ours to Disney already. So who has any tips or suggestions for our trip?

Also, we haven't booked a hotel yet. We want to stay in the Park, but haven't been able to make up our minds about which resort. There are still plenty of rooms available at most of the places I've looked at, since I think we should be there at a relatively "un-crowded" time for Disney. Has anyone stayed anywhere they loved, or wish they had stayed somewhere else, etc... Any info is appreciated. Either leave it in the comments or email me - susancopeland@gmail.com.
