Trick or Treat!

The Entertainment Committee in our neighborhood (don't you just love homeowner's associations run by people with nothing better to do) decided to move Halloween to Sunday night for our neighborhood. We only went to 4 or 5 houses so we could make it to the Halloween carnival at our church. However, apparently I am losing my mind and had the completely wrong time written down for the Carnival, so we arrived as it was ending. Nice. So we stopped by Honey and BeBo's for dinner instead. We plan on making up for the lack of trick-or-treating on actual Halloween night by hitting up Honey's neighbors.

The Pumpkin Song

This is a new song that Carlisle learned at school today. She has sung it about 50 times since lunch. Still blows my mind that some people out there can teach 13 4-year olds anything. For those of you that are technically challenged (Mom) just turn up your volume and click on the triangle to see the video.

Lazy Sunday

Okay, three posts tonight, but it was a busy weekend! Today we took it easy. We took the girls out to Clear Creek for a picnic since the weather was so nice.

Busy in Birmingham

Well two of my best friends, that both happen to live in Birmingham, are really busy with a new baby and a soon to be born baby. Congratulations to Megan, Rhett, and big-sis Claire, who welcomed baby Ford on October 17th!

Also, Lindsay and Paul are expecting their first little boy in December! I helped host a shower for Lindsay in Memphis this weekend. Lindsay is from Memphis, and we met when we both worked for FedEx, many years ago now. Here is a pic from the shower. Lindsay is the pregnant one. Stacey is on the left, we also worked together at FedEx. Of course, me on the right. Rarely any pictures of me on my own blog - so just in case you've forgotten what I look like.

Future Veterinarians of America Club

The girls all had a great time playing this weekend. Carlisle did kind of lose it last night after the Grove. But it was a really long day, so I'll blame it on being tired.
This picture is the girls doctoring on "Paint" the horse. They are using Carlisle's tools to fix him. If any of these girls do wind up as vets, you might want to think twice before taking your pet!

First Sleepover

Carlisle is having her first sleepover tonight. Jeffrey and Jessica are here for the game and they brought Libby and Ellie. For those that don't know, Jeffrey and Charles were best friends from about Kindergarten, and now they both have 2 daughters each, as payback for all the years they spent torturing their dates' fathers. Carlisle and Libby wanted to sleep in Carlisle's bed, so we figured we could try it, not really expecting them to go to sleep. We kept sneaking into the bathroom to spy on them and they were just in bed talking and giggling - what in the world do four year-olds talk about anyway?

But, I think they have FINALLY both gone to sleep. It is 12:15, so I don't think it was physically possible for either of them to stay up any later. But they're having fun, and I think all the parents think it is fun to see the girls play so well together. We're really looking forward to them getting to spend more time together once we move to Jackson.

Tutus for everyone!

Rainey is going to be a ladybug for Halloween - she should probably be a cat since she spends half the day meowing (is that normal?). Anyway, I decided she should be a ladybug, mainly because I stumbled across these directions on how to make a tutu, and I was really itching to make one. Every girl likes a nice tutu. So she is going to wear black tights, black shirt, her red and black tutu, and some wings and antennae that I need to order. Carlisle really likes a tutu, probably more than anyone you know, so of course I had to make two red and black tutus. Carlisle is modeling hers in the picture. Immediately following the photo shoot, she proceeded to get the tulle entangled in the chain of her bike, resulting in a tutupendectomy.

Even if you have no intentions of making your own tutu at home, you really should check out the instructions. It's this slightly odd woman who keeps a photo-blog on Flikr, and really, I mean REALLY likes to wear tutus. She has recently had housework in a tutu week. Meaning she cleans her house wearing a tutu, topless (don't get too excited, you don't really see the boobs). Nice. Check it out.

Happy Birthday Rainey!!!

My baby will be 2 tomorrow. Where does the time go?

We had a party tonight to celebrate. Rainey had a fabulous time. We just had family over for hotdogs, cake, and icecream. I just couldn't deal with a house full of 2 year-olds, maybe next year. Don't get me wrong, I was certainly in the birthday party spirit - check out the Dora cake that your's truly slaved over. Literally, it took me hours. I even used those icing bag things to decorate it. Certainly not professional, but not bad either from someone who is so utterly un-domestic.

Oh, and I threw in the picture of Baxter so everyone could see that he has pulled through the heat stroke. I don't think he's completely out of the woods yet, but today he's been acting like himself (begging for food, eating out of the trash, begging for food, drinking out of the toilet, begging for food....). I think he is going to be fine.

Bad things happen in threes

Isn't that what they say? Well overall, the weekend was pretty good, but we had some "bad" stuff happen on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. So now I'm ready for some good luck. Maybe an offer on our house would suffice.

Friday - I won the Bad Mother of the Year Award, when I locked Rainey in my car at the gym. It was pretty overcast but still fairly hot in there. It took about 20 minutes to get her out and she was pretty mad and hot by the time we got her out. She was fine, I was much more upset over the whole thing than her.

Jeffrey and Jessica came up Friday to spend the night for the game. We all went to L&Ms for a good dinner with Bradley and Jenny. Then after dinner Jeffrey, Jessica, Charles and I headed to the Library (not the one with books), I guess to pretend like we were still in college, and not 30 like we really are. Jessica starts talking to some old man, I thought maybe he was a friend of her parents. I couldn't hear what they were saying because it was so loud in there. But turns out it was Shepard Smith from Fox News. I even shook his hand and chatted for minute, having no idea who he was. So by the time we walk off and Jessica tells me who we were talking to, he was leaving and we didn't get a picture. So that part of Friday wasn't bad at least.

Saturday - Bad thing number 2 - the check engine light came on in my car. Of course there is no VW dealer in Oxford, and my warranty runs out this week, so as a result it had to be taken directly to Memphis yesterday and left at the service center. So the good news is that the $250 problem making the light come on is under warranty. Bad news, is I have to have new brakes to the tune of about $350, obviously not under warranty.

We also managed to make it to half of the game on Saturday, it was a pretty boring game, but at least we won.

Sunday - Bad thing number 3 - Charles decided to take Baxter with him when he went to ride his mountain bike. Well, apparently Baxter is not quite as young as he used to be. Baxter's pretty sick. We think he's had a heat stroke. I'll update his status later, but honestly he doesn't look very good.

Carlisle also went to a birthday costume party and she dressed in her Halloween costume, which is Snow White. I'll post a pic from the game and from the party when I get to class and have more time!

General Update

Hi to everyone! Mainly we've just been posting pictures from our iPhones, without much commentary, so I thought I'd update a little. First, I'll clarify some of the picture posts. The "Because I can" post - is Charles posting while riding his bike, dork. When we send pictures using our phones it always shows up as me posting - although sometimes it's really Charles. It's safe to assume that all the random posts came from Charles. Also, the extremely adorable baby in "Go Rebels" is Lila, Bradley and Jenny's sweet baby girl. She traveled all the way to Athens with her mom and dad last weekend to help cheer on the Rebs - didn't work.

So on to the update, except there really isn't too much to write about. The house has been on the market for several weeks, not the best time to be selling a house. But everyone please keep your fingers crossed that someone will come along soon. We have two months of law school left, yikes! Most of you know that we are headed to Jackson after that. Charles will be working with Copeland Cook, and I'll be working part-time with a small firm. We haven't looked a lot for houses in Jackson and probably won't until our house is under contract. And yes, we're probably moving into the actual city of Jackson, and please nobody email or call to let us know about their best friend's wife's uncle's dog trainer who got knifed in their driveway at 10:00 in the morning.

Let's see, we've kept fairly busy the last few weekends. North Carolina for Charles' birthday, then Athens last weekend for the GA/OleMiss game. We had a great trip, I'll have to get some pictures from Charles' computer of the girls with Grandaddy and Nana C. (Honey, if you read this will you please add a couple of pictures from Athens?) This coming weekend is Homecoming, although apparently not many people from our Grove group are "coming home" for the game. There will be a lot of free space under our tent if anyone needs a hangout....

I'm trying desperately to think of something more to write about. Mainly because when I finish blogging I need to start working on a paper for my Structures and Powers of the Constitution class (I know some of you just fell asleep reading the name of the class...) But I really can't. So good night.
