We're in for trouble...
So not only does my 4 year old order margaritas on the rocks, she is also apparently a thief.
I know it is inevitable that one day your child will slip some candy out of the grocery store, but that doesn't mean I'm happy about it. Yesterday the girls were having a fit for some bubble gum while we were checking out at the grocery store. I told them no because I'd already bought them treats. I should have been suspicious when Carlisle suddenly quit fussing and didn't make a peep until we were in the car. She had been riding in the plastic car attachment on the front of the grocery cart, so I couldn't really see what she was doing while I was paying.
When we got home she produced a can of Bubble Tape from underneath her dress. Great. It was already almost 8 oclock, so there was no way I was putting them in the car to go back up there. But I made her go get money out of her piggy bank to pay for it, and now we are headed back to Kroger to tell them what happened and pay for it. This should be interesting....

Happy Anniversary to Us!
A day late. Our 8 year anniversary was yesterday! Where does the time go?
We celebrated in high style - take out from the neighborhood mediterranean restaurant, TV trays, and an episode of Alias.
We don't generally do anniversary gifts, unless there's something I really want and need an excuse to get Charles to buy it for me. ;)
But I got the best present ever yesterday. The countertops are all finally in, so last night Charles installed the kitchen faucet and the DISHWASHER!!! Let me tell you, after 3 months of washing dishes in a teeny tiny pedastal sink in the half bath off the laundry room, I seriously almost cried when he told me I could now use the diswasher and my fabulous new 30" farm sink. I'll send a picture from my phone, it will be the post above this.

Camp Honey
Honey (aka my mom) kept the girls at her farm house in South Georgia last week. The girls had a great time with cousins, farm animals, picking blueberries... My dad's family always has a big 4th of July party, so I drove over on Thursday to rescue my mom and take the girls to the annual Spurlock bash. The children at the party almost outnumbered the adults, so it certainly wasn't boring. And someone brought cupcakes with bright blue icing, and you see what Rainey did with that (see previous post).
The trip home, 400 miles with both kids by myself, wasn't all that bad actually. Well, Rainey did throw up once, and I had to change her clothes in the blazing hot sun on the side of the the highway in Alabama.
It has been a while since I posted funny things that come out of my children's mouth, and I probably shouldn't post this because I'm not sure what it says about our parenting style, but whatever. While the girls were at Camp Honey, Carlisle made several memorable statements. Mom reported that on the way to Georgia they stopped at a hotel (Hampton Inn type place) in Montgomery for the night. When it was time to go out for dinner Carlisle said, "I'm just too tired, don't they have room service here?" Several days later, when mom told her it was almost dinner time, she wanted to know if they would be having appetizers first. But the best (or worst) was when she was playing "restaurant" with the little girl across the street and when the little girl asked Carlisle what she wanted to drink, she replied "a margarita on the rocks."
And for the record, I only drink my margaritas frozen, so she has obviously picked that up from somewhere else - probably Sesame Street or Dora. (or maybe from Charles, DeeDee, and PopPop);)

Okay, okay
Enough with the nagging, I'm back.
Apparently there are actually people who read this blog, and have been disappointed with my lack of posting. So, I'm back and I will try to do better. Better than random pictures with no text every few weeks.
There are several reasons I haven't been posting. The first being that I'm absolutely swamped trying to work, remodel a house, and raise two children. I know, excuses, excuses.... Another reason is that I haven't felt particularly witty or interesting lately. There's nothing worse than a lame blog, and I didn't want to be a lame blogger, so I just basically quit. (side note- pretty much all the posts in the last few months have been Charles, so any lameness is attributed solely to him).
This time last summer we had embarked on our crazy adventure of a month in Spain with our two very young children, and then after that there was all the drama of last semester of law school, selling a house, living with in-laws, taking the bar. Somewhere along the way we have turned into boring 30-somethings. Now we are just like everyone else on the block - two boring lawyers, with two sweet and smart children, one old golden retriever, and lots of weekend house chores.
So, I will attempt to resume blogging and will try to make our life sound interesting for your reading pleasure.
Oh, and here are some pictures from the kitchen. We have countertops in half the kitchen, and most of the cabinet doors are on. Actually, I guess as of today, they are all on, just some of them need to be painted. Some had to be remade, long story... The island is missing from the pictures, we moved it out b/c we need to finish the wood floors and move the range into its place. Maybe by Christmas this thing will be done.

Weekend
The picture of the "dorks" is from this past weekend. If you can't tell from the picture, that is Breck, Lyn, Jeffrey, and Jessica attempting to do handstands outside our cottage at Old Waverly. There was an engagement party for Jerry and Mary Clift on Saturday night in Okolona, so we all rented a cottage and made a day of it. As you can probably tell, we started that day sitting by the pool and drinking beer. So by time to get ready for the party everyone had pretty much regressed into this type of behavior. I think these were taken right after Jeffrey and Charles took a little swim in the pond outside our cottage. At least we didn't get kicked out of the nicest country club in the state, that might have been embarrasing.
Anyway, it was a great party. Fun was had by all, and we'll just leave it at that...
